- JTG beat Dos Caras.
The crowd didn't really respond until he started cutting a promo in Spanish. He got decent heat despite Tampa having a high Hispanic population. JTG got a nice reaction. After about three to four minutes of back and forth action, JTG hit his finisher for the win. There was actually a pretty loud JTG chant during the match.
WWE NXT Taping
I'm not 100 percent sure, but I think there is a new female ring announcer. She is a cute blond girl. Michael Cole and Josh Matthews were introduced to a chorus of boos (probably for Cole because he royally sucks). Matt Striker then came to the ring to start NXT.
They showed clips from Raw last night with John Cena left lying. After a huge explosion of pyro, NXT was underway. Striker talked about the events of last night and wondered aloud if the second class of NXT would make as big of an impact. He then introduced each pro, whom then introduced their rookies. The Miz came out first to massive heat.
John Morrison was next and he introduced the tallest rookie of them all as he put it, Eli Cottonwood. Laycool came out and introduced Kaval and they treated him like their pet which was pretty funny actually. Cody Rhodes introduced his rookie Husky Harris really unenthusiastically. Joe Hennig got the best response. I refuse to call him by his WWE name (Michael McGillicutty).
After they were all in the ring, Striker said this season of NXT would only last 12 weeks and the pros would only have 50 percent of the vote. The other 50 percent lied in the hands of you guessed it, the WWE Universe. The first elimination will be in 3 weeks. All the rookies started arguing with each other about who would win.
Alex Riley(The Miz's rookie) told Kaval he used to stuff guys like him in the locker in high school which drew laughs from the crowd. Kaval is much smaller than the other rookies so, of course, WWE had to draw attention to it.
- John Morrison & Eli Cottonwood defeated Zack Ryder & Titus O'Neal.
Cottonwood looks like an axe murderer. He is tall enough to step over the top rope. Morrison pinned Titus after hitting Starship Pain. Standard WWE tag match. After the match, Morrison put over his rookie, but The Miz said he sucked. The pros are sitting on the stage tonight.
They showed an introductory video of Alex Riley, who said he's been signing autographs since he was 16. He talked up his many athletic accomplishments. He is calling himself the Varsity Villain. In FCW, he was called the Campus Legend. The guy has tremendous charisma and reminds me a lot of The Miz.
- MVP & Percy Watson beat Husky Harris & Cody Rhodes.
Percy Watson is very um...flamboyant. He danced before the match. Cody, at one point, refused to tag in Harris, which got boos from the crowd. He finally tagged him in and he hit a three-point stance football tackle.
MVP got to hit his signature spots. The end saw Watson hit a float over DDT on Harris like The Rock used to do for the win. After the match, Cody said MVP already had a great athlete in Percy Watson, but only he was capable of molding someone like Husky Harris into the next breakout star.
They showed us an introductory video on Joe Hennig. He said he came from wrestling royalty and the he had to live up to his family name. They showed Larry The Axe and Mr. Perfect, and played Perfects theme song in the background. If they are acknowledging that he is Curt Hennig's son, then I don't understand why they changed his name. They didn't acknowledge that Husky Harris is Mike Rotunda's son, although Rhodes did say he looked familiar.
All of the NXT rookies and pros made their way to the ring. Matt Striker threw it to a video package to last night again. He then asked all the rookies what they thought of what they saw. Kaval said it was cowardly, but they had to make an impact. Lucky Cannon said the same thing. Alex Riley started sneezing and said he was allergic to Striker. Um, okay. Percy Watson said he thought it was messed up very flamboyantly.
Striker said on behalf of everyone who was slaughtered on Raw last night, welcome to NXT. Suddenly all the pros ganged up and beat down all of the rookies. I guess they are trying to keep them in line. That, I believe, was the end of NXT. Not a bad show and the crowd gave a polite response to most of the rookies.
